FAQs: Cyber Jagrookta Diwas

1. What is Cyber Jagrookta Diwas?

Cyber jagrookta Diwas is an initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs to generate cybersecurity awareness amongst the general public and the employees of government organizations.

All the banks, schools, universities, colleges, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), branches/sections, offices, municipalities, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the purview of the MHA are requested to celebrate Cyber Jagrookta Diwas every month.

All the banks, institutions and organizations under the umbrella of the home ministry are requested to observe Cyber Jagrookta Diwas every first Wednesday of the month between 11 am and 12 noon (tentatively).

All the concerned organizations should conduct seminars, quiz competitions, workshops, interactive sessions and creative sessions from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon every first Wednesday of the month. These sessions should be aimed at generating cybersecurity awareness and put special emphasis on the basic protocols of cyber hygiene.

The government institutions in India serve as one of the most popular targets amongst cyber criminals in today’s time. As per the data provided by Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), there were over 6.07 lakh cyber security incidents in the first half of 2021, of which around 12,000 incidents involved government organizations. To slow down the rate of rising cyber crimes, the Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the Cyber Jagrookta Diwas initiative.
